Summary

Éabhla's life is controlled by her brother, Sté, and her adopted mother, Mal. They say they're protecting her but she just feels stifled. She longs for freedom and one miraculous day she gets it! And, she quickly wishes she hadn't. The world is not as simple as she thought it would be. A chief is out to get her and she doesn't know why. She doesn't understand any of what is going on, least of all she doesn't understand herself. On the other hand, Aodan has been hiding for a long time. The chief has been hunting him for a long time. He longs for a time of peace where he doesn't have to constantly look over his shoulder. He barely lets anyone in, he doesn't trust anyone, that is until Éabhla challenges his world view and shows him the joy of freedom
