Summary
Six months after his older brother is killed in Middle Eastern conflict, Calvin Greenlee finds release from his grief by racing his vintage Yamaha along rural North Carolina roads. His girlfriend, Stacey Youngblood, is the one person who really understands Calvin's emotions. Through her artwork and poetry, she makes Calvin feel like something more than an ordinary farm boy. Stacey has a vision for her future, designing fashion in New York or London. Can she hope to lure Calvin away from quiet Stiles County before some prettier ---skinnier ---girl steals him away? For Stacey, shutting out the internal voices that tell her she isn't good enough means losing weight. Lots of weight. When Calvin learns her weird eating habits are really covering up for anorexia nervosa, he's determined to 'fix' the problem ---because he can't bear to lose another loved one. Winning the battle, though, could destroy their relationship. Losing it could cost Stacey her life
