Summary
People in various professions shape our communities, so it's important to be able to discuss the workers who play a role in our daily lives. Young readers receive an overview of different professions and simultaneously get a basic lesson in sign language. Both Spanish and English translations encourage kids to explore different languages and methods of communication. Learning any language, either spoken or manual, begins with vocabulary acquisition. The trilingual Talking Hands series offers readers a basic introduction to American Sign Language and features common words and signs from a broad range of subject areas. Photo cues combined with simple illustrations help English and Spanish readers begin learning signs. Each page illustrates a sign and shows the equivalent terms in English and Spanish, teaching children three different ways of conveying the same concept. These unique books help children broaden their communications horizons and expand their language skills
