- "° chaque ǵe son art, c̉haque art sa libert."̌ Voila la devise de la Sčession viennoise, mouvement dissident (1892-1906), qui fut port p̌ar une vingtaine d'artistes člairš luttant contre l'acadmǐsme conservateur pťrifiant Vienne et tout l'empire austro-hongrois. Courant de l'Art nouveau, la Sčession, officiellement fondě en 1897 par Klimt, Moll et Hoffmann, ne fut pas une rvǒlution artistique anonyme parmi tant d'autres. Contestataires par essence, les sčessionnistes viennois ont peint ce qu'on ne devait pas peindre : les frle̥ments, les baisers, les violences. Se dfǐnissant comme un art total sans contrainte politique ni commerciale, l'effervescence de ce mouvement toucha tous les artisans, architectes, et dčorateurs. Dans cet ouvrage, peinture, sculpture et architecture sont confrontěs par l'auteur pour souligner la richesse et la diversit ďu mouvement viennois
