- Le terme and#x00AB%x; Art nouveau and#x00BB%x; dâesigne un style dâecoratif et architectural qui se dâeveloppe dans les annâees 1880-1890 en Occident. Nâe en râeaction contre les dâerives de l'industrialisation et le vide crâeatif qu'elle entraãine, l'Art nouveau est áa l'origine d'une vâeritable renaissance des arts dâecoratifs. L'objectif premier est la crâeation d'une nouvelle esthâetique de la nature, par un retour áa l'âetude du motif naturel. Pour ce faire, des artistes tels que Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser, Antoni Gaudâi, Jan Toorop et William Morris privilâegient la recherche technique et la nouveautâe des formes. Cette mode n'a eu de cesse, depuis son triomphe lors de l'Exposition universelle de Paris en 1900, d'inspirer les crâeateurs. Son successeur, l'Art dâeco, se dâeveloppera apráes la premiáere guerre mondiale
