- Summary
- Divorced when her children were two and four years old, Jeanette did everything she could to keep her children safe. She took seriously the roles of both mother and father. Everything seemed to be fine until her daughter entered puberty. Everything seemed to be fine until it wasn't. Then came the nightmare. In April of 2009, Jeanette's fifteen-year-old ran away from home-to meet a man she met online. Jeanette's memoir, Heart Scars, recounts the events of that terrifying weekend, the subsequent police investigation, and the periodic anxieties of single parenting
